01 · The short version
Home technology, designed as one system
Most homes collect technology one gadget at a time: a doorbell from one app, speakers from another, Wi-Fi that gives up at the lanai and a remote nobody but one person understands. We design it the other way around, starting with how you live in the house and working back to the equipment.
That means lighting, shades, climate, audio, video, cameras and the network are planned together, installed by the same people and controlled in a way the whole household can use.

Smart home automation

03 · How a project works
From walkthrough to move-in
Whether it’s new construction or a home you already love, the order is the same. Nothing gets installed before you’ve seen the plan.
01
Walkthrough
We visit the home, walk each room with you and ask how you actually live there: who uses what, when you’re away and what drives you crazy today.
02
Design and written proposal
A room-by-room plan with equipment, wiring and what each control will do, in writing, so you know exactly what you’re approving.
03
Pre-wire or retrofit
In new construction we run wire before the walls close. In finished homes we plan routes that keep patching and paint to a minimum.
04
Install and program
Equipment is mounted, labeled and tested room by room. Scenes, schedules and remotes are programmed to match the plan.
05
Walk you through it
We show everyone in the house how it works, and adjust anything that doesn’t feel natural after the first week.
06
Support after move-in
Same local team for changes, updates and the occasional “why did the TV do that.” Remote help when it’s quick, a visit when it isn’t.
Building or remodeling?
The best time to plan home technology is before the drywall goes up. Bring us in early and we’ll plan the wiring with your build.

05 · Seasonal homes
While you’re away
Plenty of Southwest Florida homes sit empty for part of the year. A well-planned system lets you check on the house from wherever you are, and lets us help without a drive-by.
Check cameras, door locks and the alarm from your phone
Get alerts for things that matter, like water sensors and inside temperature, if your system includes them
Restart a frozen router or streaming box remotely with smart power equipment
Set lights and shades on a schedule so the house doesn’t look empty
Give a property manager or family member their own access, and take it back later
Before hurricane season
We can help you add surge protection and battery backup for the network, label what can be safely shut down, and set up a simple checklist for leaving the house. It won’t stop a storm, but it makes coming home a lot less confusing.

Home technology FAQ
What home technology services does NerdSquad offer?
Smart home automation (lighting, shades, climate, pool and audio), Control4 systems, home theater and whole-home audio, security cameras, Ring alarm and camera installation, and whole-home Wi-Fi and networking. We design, install and support them as one system.
Do you work on new construction or existing homes?
Both. In new construction we plan and pre-wire before the walls close, which gives you the most options. In finished homes we use existing wiring where it’s sound, add wireless where it makes sense and plan routes that keep patching to a minimum.
Can you take over a system someone else installed?
Often, yes. We start with a walkthrough to see what’s there, how it was programmed and what’s worth keeping. Some systems need the original programming files or account access, and we’ll tell you plainly if a system is better replaced than repaired.
How much does a smart home system cost?
It depends on the size of the home, how many rooms and systems you want to connect and whether it’s new construction or a retrofit. We don’t publish one-size prices. After a walkthrough we give you a written, room-by-room proposal.
Which areas do you serve?
We’re based in Naples. We work in homes across Southwest Florida, including Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
Can I check on my home while I’m away for the season?
Yes, if the system is set up for it. Cameras, locks, alarm status, lights and sensors can all be checked from your phone, and smart power equipment lets you restart a frozen device remotely.
Do you support the system after it’s installed?
Yes. The same local team handles changes, updates and troubleshooting after move-in, remotely when that’s quickest and in person when it isn’t.
Do you also work with businesses?
Yes. NerdSquad Managed IT Services is a Managed Service Provider (MSP) for Southwest Florida businesses. Home technology is a separate service run by the same local team.
