Managed Cybersecurity Services for Southwest Florida Businesses

Most breaches don’t kick the door in. They log in.

NerdSquad Managed IT Services runs layered security for small and midsize businesses: identity and MFA, email filtering, endpoint detection and response, patching, web filtering, backups and staff training, all managed by one local team in Naples.

What are managed cybersecurity services?

Managed cybersecurity services are an outside team that sets up, monitors and maintains the controls protecting your business: identity and multi-factor authentication, email filtering, endpoint detection and response, patching, web filtering, backups and staff training. When something slips through, that same team contains it, cleans it up and closes the gap.

No single product does all of that, and the businesses that get hurt usually had one or two layers and assumed they were covered. Security works like an airport checkpoint: identity checks, bag scanners and people trained to notice what looks wrong. A mistake at one layer gets caught at the next.

Because we’re also your Managed Service Provider (MSP), security isn’t a separate vendor with a separate phone number. The people who patch your computers are the people watching the alerts.

How the layers work together

Here’s a normal morning at a 25-person office, seen from the security side. None of this needs anyone on your staff to be a security expert, and most of it happens before anyone notices.

Walk a real situation through it

Someone has an employee’s password

A valid password is entered for a mailbox from another state at 3 a.m.

MFA asks for a second factor the attacker doesn’t have, so the sign-in fails.

Conditional access flags the unfamiliar location and device, and the attempt is logged.

If the password also shows up in a breach dump, dark web monitoring alerts us and we coordinate a reset.

We check the account for new forwarding rules or odd sign-ins and note it in the ticket.

Layers: identity and MFA, dark web monitoring, logging.

Start with the honest version

Not sure which of these layers you already have? We’ll check and tell you plainly what’s missing.

03 · Zero trust, minus the buzzword

Zero trust security, explained

Zero trust is our core security approach. It replaces “inside the office network means safe” with a simple rule: every person, device and app proves who it is before it gets access, and only gets what its job needs.

That matters because work no longer happens only inside the office. Staff sign in from home, phones and client sites, and a stolen password works just as well from anywhere. Zero trust makes the password alone useless.

MFA on every account that matters, with text-message codes phased out where possible

Devices must be managed, encrypted and up to date before they reach company data

People get access to what their role needs, not the whole file server

Admin rights are separate from everyday accounts

Sign-ins, file access and admin changes are logged and reviewed

We plan as if something will get through, so one mistake stays small

04 · Beyond the basics

Dark web monitoring, insider risk and cyber insurance

A few services sit on top of the core layers. They’re optional, and we’ll tell you honestly whether your business needs them.

🕵️

Dark web monitoring

We watch breach dumps and criminal marketplaces for your company’s email addresses and passwords. When one turns up, we alert the person, reset the credential and check for misuse.

👁️

Employee and insider-risk monitoring

Where your policy and the law allow it, activity monitoring on company devices flags unusual data movement and risky behavior, with clear notice to staff.

📋

Cyber insurance support

Insurers ask about MFA, EDR, backups, training and incident plans. We help you answer accurately and document the controls. Coverage itself is arranged through a licensed insurance partner.

🧭

Security reviews

A periodic look at what changed: new staff, new apps, new vendors. Each review ends with a short, ranked list of fixes.

05 · If something gets through

A calm, practiced response instead of a panic

No security stack stops everything. What matters is how fast a problem is contained and how cleanly you recover, so the response is planned before it’s needed.

01

Contain

EDR isolates an infected device automatically. We disable compromised accounts and block the source.

02

Investigate

We work out what happened, what was touched and whether data left, using EDR, sign-in and email logs.

03

Recover

We clean or rebuild affected machines, restore data from backups and get people working again.

04

Document and improve

You get a written timeline for your insurer and attorney, and we close the gap that let it in.

If an incident may involve customer or patient data, notification rules can apply. We provide the technical facts; decisions about notification stay with you and your legal counsel.

06 · Which plan includes this?

Security is built into every managed IT plan

Every NerdSquad plan includes the core layers. Endpoint 360 adds round-the-clock security operations. Specialist services are added per user or per company when you need them.

Managed cybersecurity FAQ

What do managed cybersecurity services include?

They cover the controls that protect your business and the people who watch them: MFA and identity management, email filtering, endpoint detection and response, patching, web filtering, firewall management, backups, training and incident response. NerdSquad sets these up, monitors them and responds when something needs attention.

Is cybersecurity included in your managed IT plans?

Yes. Every plan includes EDR, patching and security management for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Endpoint Pro adds workstation backup and hybrid-work policies, and Endpoint 360 adds 24/7 SOC monitoring, SIEM and threat hunting. Security awareness training is part of every plan. Advanced email security, dark web monitoring and testing are add-ons.

What is zero trust security?

Zero trust means no person or device is trusted just because it’s on the office network. Everyone proves who they are with MFA, devices must be managed and up to date, and people only get the access their role needs. It limits the damage when one password or laptop is compromised.

We’re a small business. Are we really a target?

Most attacks aren’t personal. Automated tools try stolen passwords and send phishing emails to thousands of businesses at once, and small businesses often have fewer defenses. A handful of controls, starting with MFA, EDR and tested backups, stop most of what we see.

Do you monitor our systems 24/7?

Automated monitoring runs around the clock on every plan. On Endpoint 360, your endpoints also feed a 24/7 security operations center (SOC) that investigates alerts and can isolate a device at any hour. Live help desk hours depend on your plan.

What happens if we get hit with ransomware?

EDR is designed to stop ransomware behavior and isolate the device automatically. We then investigate, clean up and restore from immutable backups that attackers can’t delete. You get a written timeline for your insurer and attorney.

Can you help with our cyber insurance application?

Yes. We help you answer the security questions accurately and document controls like MFA, EDR, backups and training. Inaccurate answers are a common reason claims get challenged. Coverage itself is arranged through a licensed insurance partner.

Do you offer employee monitoring?

Yes, as an add-on. Where your policy and the law allow it, activity monitoring on company devices can flag unusual data movement and risky behavior. We recommend clear written notice to staff and help you set it up that way.

Does cybersecurity make us compliant?

Strong security controls are a big part of HIPAA, GLBA, SEC and PCI DSS requirements, but compliance also involves policies, documentation and decisions only your business can make. We implement and document the technical controls and support your audits; we don’t certify compliance.

Where do we start?

With a security review. We check MFA coverage, admin accounts, email settings, endpoint protection, backups and patch status, then give you a short, ranked list of fixes. No scare tactics, just what to do first.
