01 · The plain-English version
What are managed IT services?
Managed IT services means a Managed Service Provider (MSP) takes ongoing responsibility for your technology for a predictable monthly plan: monitoring every device, applying security patches, protecting endpoints, managing Microsoft 365, backing up data and running a help desk your staff can call. You stop paying to fix things and start paying to keep them from breaking.
The difference shows up on a Tuesday morning. With break-fix IT, a failing hard drive is a surprise and an invoice. With managed IT, the monitoring software flagged it last week, the drive was swapped during lunch, and nobody lost a file.
Break-fix IT
You call when something breaks. You pay by the hour. Nobody watches anything in between, so the same problems keep coming back.
One in-house IT hire
One person knows everything, takes every call and goes on vacation like everyone else. Security, backups and Microsoft 365 all depend on them.
Managed IT with NerdSquad
A whole team watches, patches and protects your systems every day, answers your staff, handles vendors and plans what’s next with you.

Every box on the org chart is NerdSquad
Most small businesses can’t hire a help desk tech, a security analyst, a systems engineer and someone to argue with the internet provider. A managed IT plan gives you all of them, and one account lead who knows your business.

03 · The job description
What’s included in every managed IT plan
These are the jobs on the org chart. Every NerdSquad plan covers all of them; the plans differ in hours and security depth, which we cover next.
📡
Remote monitoring and management (RMM)
Every workstation and server runs a lightweight agent that reports health around the clock. We see a failing disk, a full drive or a stopped service before your staff does.
☎
A help desk your staff can actually reach
Call, text, email, chat, the portal and more. Two tiers of support mean the person who answers can usually fix it, without three handoffs.
🩹
Patch management and hardening
Operating system and third-party updates are tested and installed in maintenance windows that don’t interrupt your day, and settings get hardened along the way.
🛡
Endpoint detection and response (EDR)
More than antivirus. EDR watches behavior on every device and can isolate one that’s been compromised before it spreads.
✉
Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace management
New hires get accounts on day one, people who leave lose access the same day, and MFA and security settings stay where they belong.
🌐
Network and firewall management
Firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi and VPN are monitored and kept current. When your internet provider has an outage, we usually know before you call.
📞
Vendor coordination
Internet, phones, printers, line-of-business software: we make the call, speak the language and stay on it until it’s fixed.
🚐
Onsite support across SWFL
Some problems need hands. Our techs drive to offices from Naples to Fort Myers and the communities in between.
📊
Quarterly business reviews
A real conversation about what happened, what’s aging out, what’s coming and what it will cost, so budget surprises stop being surprises.
What isn’t included: projects such as office moves, new server deployments, major upgrades and large migrations are quoted separately, and some specialized application support depends on the software. We tell you what’s in and what’s out before you sign, not after.

Three managed IT plans. Pick your coverage.
Every plan includes the whole team from the org chart. What changes is when we’re on the clock and how deep the security goes. Your price depends on your devices and setup, so we quote after a short assessment, in writing, with what’s in and what’s out.

05 · The fine print, in large print
Our promise: we add value, or we tell you
We guarantee to add value. If we look at your setup and can’t improve how your IT runs, we’ll say so before you sign anything. That promise shapes how we work every day after that, too.
Ownership has spent decades building technology for fast-growing, compliance-heavy companies and running the back office of real businesses. So when we recommend something, it’s because it fits how your business actually operates, not because it’s on a quota sheet.

How switching to NerdSquad managed IT works
Most MSP relationships that go wrong, go wrong in the handoff. Here’s ours, week by week. We coordinate directly with your current provider, so you don’t have to referee.
01
Discovery call
Before day one: a plain-English conversation about what you run, what’s been frustrating and which compliance rules apply. If we’re not the right fit, we say so.
02
Full environment audit
Week 1: our monitoring agent goes on every device. We review computers, network, Microsoft 365, backups and vendors, then hand you a prioritized list.
03
Fix the risky stuff first
Week 2: missing MFA, unprotected devices, backups that stopped running, default firewall passwords. The critical findings get fixed and EDR rolls out.
04
Documentation and runbooks
Week 3: network diagram, device inventory with warranties, vendor contacts and recovery steps, written down at last and shared with you.
05
Meet your team
Week 4: we introduce ourselves to the people who will actually call us and show them every way to reach a tech.
06
First quarterly review
Day 90: what happened, what’s aging out, what’s next and what it will cost. Then we do it again every quarter.
Calling because your IT person just left, or after a security scare?
Start here. We take over the urgent pieces first (passwords, admin access, backups and anything that looks compromised), then run the full onboarding around it.

Managed IT services FAQ
What are managed IT services?
Managed IT services means a Managed Service Provider (MSP) takes ongoing responsibility for your technology for a monthly plan. That covers monitoring, patching, endpoint security, Microsoft 365 management, backups, network upkeep, vendor coordination and a help desk your staff can reach, instead of paying by the hour when something breaks.
What’s the difference between managed IT and break-fix IT?
Break-fix IT is reactive: you call when something fails and pay for the time. Managed IT is proactive: the provider watches your systems every day, fixes problems early and is accountable for keeping things running. Break-fix can work for a very small, simple office. Once downtime and security risk are counted, managed IT usually makes more sense for a growing business.
How much do managed IT services cost?
It depends on how many computers and servers you have, which software you run, your compliance requirements and the coverage window you need. We don’t publish one-size prices because two 20-person offices can need very different things. After a short assessment we give you a written quote that spells out what’s included and what isn’t.
Which managed IT plan do I need?
Endpoint Starter fits offices that work regular weekday hours. Endpoint Pro adds workstation backup, hybrid-work controls and support seven days a week into the evening. Endpoint 360 adds 24/7 coverage, SOC monitoring, SIEM, threat hunting and compliance support, and it’s the usual choice for investment advisers, medical practices, law firms and other high-compliance businesses.
Do you offer 24/7 support?
Every plan includes 24/7 automated monitoring of your devices. Endpoint 360 adds 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays, plus 24/7 security operations center monitoring. Starter covers business hours Monday through Friday, and Pro covers 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
Do you provide onsite IT support?
Yes. Our techs work out of our Naples office and come onsite across Southwest Florida, including Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs and Lehigh Acres. Plenty of issues can be fixed remotely; when hands are needed, we come to you.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. No long-term contract is required. Managed IT plans run on a written agreement that lists what’s included, your coverage hours and our service-level commitments. We walk you through the terms in plain English before you sign, so there are no surprises later.
What isn’t included in a managed IT plan?
Project work such as office moves, new server deployments, major upgrades and large migrations is quoted separately, and support for some specialized applications depends on the software. We tell you exactly what’s in and what’s out during the assessment.
How long does it take to switch from our current IT provider?
Onboarding takes about 30 days: an audit in week one, critical fixes in week two, documentation in week three and team introductions in week four. We coordinate the handoff with your current provider, and urgent risks are handled first.
Do you help with HIPAA, GLBA or SEC compliance?
Yes, on the technology side. We put the required security controls in place, keep them running and produce the documentation your auditors and examiners ask for. Compliance itself stays your responsibility; no IT company can certify you or guarantee an exam result, and we won’t pretend otherwise.
What happens to our information if we leave NerdSquad?
Your documentation is yours. Network diagrams, device inventories, vendor contacts and recovery procedures go with you, and we’ll help make the transition as smooth as we can.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes. We talk with businesses of every size, from a five-person office to a multi-location company. The plans scale as you add people, devices and locations, and our small business page explains how we work with smaller teams.
